As we all know, there are a lot of items that need to be done for pregnant women's prenatal check ups. For both pregnant women and fetuses, Down syndrome screening is a test to exclude Down syndrome infants, as their main manifestation is intellectual problems. Nowadays, it is best to exclude cases during pregnancy. Can a second child with Down syndrome have a third child?
1. This is not necessarily true. If the first pregnancy is normal, it proves that there is no problem with the chromosomes. The third pregnancy may still be normal, depending on the screening results. Because normal human chromosomes are the same, if chromosomal abnormalities are caused by some reasons, it may lead to deformities, such as Down syndrome having an extra chromosome.
2. There are several groups of people who are prone to giving birth to Down syndrome children: firstly, elderly mothers. It can be said that it is well known that elderly mothers are prone to giving birth to Down syndrome children, so mothers after the age of 35 should pay attention to this issue, and of course, fathers who are older should also pay attention to it; Secondly, if the mother has been infected with a virus, she should also pay attention; Thirdly, those who have pets at home should also pay attention to this issue.
3. There is no 100% way to avoid Down syndrome. The most effective method is to do prenatal and regular check ups, because preventive measures should be taken in advance, especially screening for Down syndrome before deciding whether to continue pregnancy. Although there is currently no cure for this disease in medicine, everyone can try to avoid it as much as possible through this series of screenings.
