Can Down syndrome be detected by B-ultrasound

The health of a newborn baby is closely related to the happiness of a family, so it is particularly important for expectant mothers to conduct various examinations on their baby during pregnancy, including testing for Down syndrome, which is also an important prenatal screening. Firstly, B-ultrasound cannot determine whether a baby has Down syndrome. To accurately determine the result, a blood test is necessary. Therefore, pregnant mothers cannot rely solely on B-ultrasound to determine whether their baby has Down syndrome. Don't have a lucky mentality, thinking that if a child's ultrasound is okay, they won't have Down syndrome. It is still necessary to conduct early Tang and mid Tang tests, using scientific Tang screening methods to determine whether the fetus is healthy.

For the screening of Down syndrome in fetuses, the main examination is the baby's chromosome 21, which cannot be determined by ultrasound to determine whether there is a hidden danger. Generally, an early Down syndrome screening should be done at week 12, and a mid-term Down syndrome screening should be done at week 16. This is the basic time period for prenatal screening.

Both early Tang and mid Tang screening cannot be omitted, and it is not advisable to skip mid Tang just because early Tang is fine, as the time periods for the two tests are not exactly the same. After undergoing mid-term screening, one can more accurately grasp the health status of the fetus and baby, thereby minimizing the risk of Down syndrome.
