Due to the small size of the fetus, it is not possible to observe the posterior translucency of the cervix during the first 11 weeks of pregnancy. However, after 14 weeks of pregnancy, as the fetus gradually develops, the transparent layer of the cervix may absorb too much fluid, affecting test results. Therefore, it is best for pregnant women to undergo NT examination between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy to avoid inaccurate test results.

This is because the fluid accumulated under the skin of the fetal neck during this cycle can be measured by ultrasound. All fetuses have some body fluids, but most fetuses with Down syndrome have a thick band of transparency (NT) at the back of the neck, so NT examination is earlier than Down syndrome screening.

Conducting NT testing is an important indicator for oneself, family, and even future fetuses. At present, the fast-paced lifestyle and unsafe food hygiene in society are the reasons for the occurrence of high-risk diseases, but these situations cannot be avoided. Therefore, it is necessary to use NTT examination to determine whether the fetus is congenital malformation or intellectual disability. NT examination can not only check whether the fetus is normal, but also whether the fetus is abnormal or has any diseases, so NT examination is now a mandatory examination item for every pregnant mother.
