Can I have IVF if my anti sperm antibody is positive

Some couples have been married for many years but have never been able to have children. After arriving at the hospital, it was discovered that the female tested positive for anti sperm antibodies. Many people are unaware of the severity of this situation. In fact, a positive result means that sperm and egg cannot combine properly, and therefore cannot have children. So, can IVF be performed if the anti sperm antibody is positive?

Positive anti sperm antibodies can be used for in vitro fertilization. Here are some other coping strategies:

  1. If contraception is used for more than six months, condoms should be used during sexual activity to prevent sperm from entering the female vagina. Over time, the vagina will stop producing anti sperm antibodies. Anti sperm antibodies can turn negative within 3 months using this isolation method.

  2. After washing the sperm, artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization are performed. The success rate of IVF in China is generally around 40-50%.

  3. The false positive rate of anti sperm antibodies is very high. Many pregnant women also test positive during examinations and do not require treatment. It can be detected through basic examinations such as anti embryonic antibodies, hysteroscopy, color ultrasound, and digital dynamic hysterosalpingography technology. No need to check for anti sperm antibodies again.

The reason why anti sperm antibodies are positive is:

  a. About 10% of male infertility patients are positive for anti sperm antibodies. Usually, there is a strong immune barrier between the testicles and the male reproductive tract, and sperm cannot come into contact with the immune system, so there is almost no immune response.

  b. Caused by illness. If the vas deferens is inflamed or blocked due to other reasons, causing sperm to cheat and overflow, or if the vas deferens is ligated and cut off, the antigens of the sperm may come into contact with the body's immune system, producing anti sperm antibodies on their own, causing the sperm to aggregate, stop, lose their vitality, and difficult to fully bind with the egg.
