Many women nowadays suffer from infertility, which is determined through medical examination. Some can be cured through treatment, while others can only be treated through methods such as in vitro fertilization. In medicine, infertility is still very strict. Below, we will introduce the basic health knowledge about infertility.
1、 Clinical definition of infertility
The medical definition of infertility is the failure to conceive after one year without taking any contraceptive measures and having normal sexual activity. It is mainly divided into primary infertility and secondary infertility. Primary infertility refers to never conceiving; Secondary infertility refers to infertility that occurred after a previous pregnancy. According to this strict definition, infertility is a common problem that affects at least 10% to 15% of couples of childbearing age. The causes of infertility are divided into male infertility and female infertility.
2、 Treatment of infertility
1. Treatment of tubal infertility
(1) The treatment of bilateral fallopian tube obstruction varies depending on the location and severity of the obstruction. Pelvic adhesion release surgery and tubal umbrella shaping surgery are feasible for adhesions and blockages at the fimbrial end of the fallopian tube. If mild hydrosalpinx is present, salpingostomy may have less impact on ovarian function compared to salpingectomy
(2) The treatment of blocked fallopian tubes is caused by partial obstruction of the umbrella end and unilateral isthmus obstruction, and can be treated separately according to the method of bilateral fallopian tube obstruction; Patients with obstruction of the interstitial and isthmus parts of the fallopian tubes may not be detected by laparoscopy, and can undergo hysteroscopic tubal catheterization and unblocking surgery for treatment.
2. Treatment of Ovulation Dysfunction Infertility
Induced ovulation, commonly known as ovulation induction, is the main method for treating anovulatory infertility. It refers to the use of drugs or surgical methods to induce ovulation function in patients with ovulation disorders. Generally aimed at inducing the development of single follicles or a few follicles. Mainly used for the treatment of ovulatory infertility and/or combined with intrauterine artificial insemination technology.
3. Treatment of immunological infertility
Efforts can be made to reduce ASAB production, inhibit ASAB production, remove ASAB bound to sperm, and overcome ASAB interference.
(1) ASAB production - Isolation therapy uses condoms for more than 6 months to reduce or eliminate the original antibody potency in the body, while avoiding the entry of semen antigens into the female reproductive tract to produce new antibodies. The efficacy is uncertain. At present, condoms are generally used in combination with other treatment methods or only during non ovulation periods.
(2) Inhibition of ASAB production - Drug therapy can be divided into the following types: ① For the causes of immunological infertility, such as reproductive tract infections, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, epididymitis, etc., appropriate antibiotics should be used. ② Immunosuppressive therapy mainly uses corticosteroid drugs such as prednisone, methylprednisolone, betamethasone, dexamethasone, etc. The general course of treatment is about six months.
The above is about the definition and treatment methods of infertility. Most of them can be cured, but there are some cases of in vitro fertilization or in vitro fertilization. Generally, some cases are treated with medication, and those caused by different fallopian tube disorders are relatively easy to treat. It is necessary to go to the hospital for detailed examination and targeted treatment.
