Ultrasound is a commonly used method in medicine to examine various organs inside the human body. For pregnant women, ultrasound can also be used to understand the growth of the baby in the belly and observe whether the baby is developing well. So, how many more ultrasound scans should a pregnant woman undergo after 32 weeks of pregnancy?
Generally, after 32 weeks of pregnancy, only 1-2 ultrasound scans are needed to check whether the baby's umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck, amniotic fluid and placenta, as well as the baby's fetal position.
Attention should be paid to:
1. The night before the examination, the food should be light and should not be eaten again after dinner. On the day of the examination, breakfast and water should be fasted for fasting. Fasting and abstaining from water are for clearer examination and to prevent interference from the gastrointestinal tract on ultrasound waves.
2. Do not overuse ultrasound. The best time to do ultrasound during pregnancy is 3 times, and the maximum should not exceed 5 times. If too many ultrasound scans are performed, it may lead to delayed development of the baby in the abdomen, and even cause deformities in the baby. Generally, doctors will provide consultation and detailed understanding, but pregnant women themselves should also be careful and attentive.
3. It is not advisable to undergo ultrasound examination too early after pregnancy, especially for pregnant women under 12 weeks. Getting an ultrasound too early actually has little effect because the baby is developing relatively young and doctors cannot see clearly. Secondly, the ultrasound generated by the instrument can also cause harm to babies who are not yet developing.
