The position of the fetus is very important for the way the baby is born. Some pregnant women want to have a natural birth but do not want to have a caesarean section, so they want to know the position of their fetus in their womb. So, how can pregnant women determine the position of the fetus?
Firstly, if pregnant women do not want to undergo a hospital examination, their fetal position can be determined by the movement of the fetus. If the position of fetal movement is generally above the belly button of the pregnant woman, or on both sides of the abdomen, then the fetus may be in a head position. This is mainly because fetal movement is usually caused by the fetus kicking its feet or swinging its arms, and it is difficult for the fetal head to cause fetal movement. Therefore, fetuses with a head position generally do not have fetal movement in the lower abdomen.
However, as the method of determining the position of the fetus through fetal movement can only be an empirical method, the judgment result cannot be 100% accurate. It is recommended that pregnant women go to the hospital for B-ultrasound if they want to know the exact position of the fetus. Ultrasound can allow pregnant women to clearly see the position of the fetus in the abdomen. If the fetus happens to move during the examination, pregnant women can also see it.
The fetal head position is the foundation of vaginal delivery for pregnant women, as the fetal head is the largest part of their body in terms of circumference. During delivery, only when the head comes out first can the entire body of the fetus smoothly emerge. If the fetus is not in the head position at 30 to 34 weeks of pregnancy, the pregnant woman can consult a doctor to correct the fetal position, otherwise a cesarean section may be necessary during delivery.
