Ultrasound monitoring of ovulation can provide many information that cannot be replaced by other methods, such as which side of the follicle is growing, how large the follicle is, whether the follicle is being discharged normally, the effectiveness of ovulation inducing drugs, and whether there is excessive stimulation. But B-ultrasound requires multiple visits to the hospital for examination, usually 4-6 times or even more per cycle.

  Methods for monitoring ovulation

  1. Basal body temperature method. Basal body temperature refers to the body temperature when the human body is in a state of complete rest, which can accurately reflect the function of ovarian ovulation and corresponding endocrine changes. After waking up in the morning, women should not make any movements before waking up. They should place a thermometer under their mouth and tongue for 5 minutes before taking it out. The temperature data should be read and recorded on a thermometer. Then, the mercury column on the thermometer should be shaken to below 35.5 degrees Celsius and placed back in its original position, ready to try again the next morning after waking up.

  2. Cervical mucus method. Cervical mucus is produced by special cells in the cervical canal, and its secretion and properties change with ovulation and menstrual cycles. During one menstrual cycle, cervical mucus is egg white in shape, with low viscosity, smooth and elastic. The thumb and index finger can pull the mucus into long filaments (up to 10 centimeters or more), and the external genitalia feels noticeably moist. It is generally believed that the secretion is clear and transparent in the form of egg white, and the day with the longest stringiness is likely to be ovulation day. The ovulation period is three days before and after this day, and sexual activity can be arranged the next day.

  3. Ovulation test paper. Do not drink water for 2 hours before ovulation test strips. Do not use morning urine tests, it is best to test between 10 and 20 o'clock. It is recommended to start testing on the tenth day of menstruation, once a day. If the color gradually darkens, increase the frequency of testing and try to test for strong positives. If the color weakens, arrange sexual activity. Ovulation occurs after the color on the test strip weakens.

After gaining a deeper understanding of the various methods for monitoring ovulation mentioned above, female friends naturally have a clear understanding of how to monitor which side of ovulation. However, these methods are not absolute. To reliably determine ovulation status, female friends can combine several methods, choose the most suitable method for themselves, and keep records to master the rules and better prepare for pregnancy.
