Immunological infertility

On the premise of sufficient preparation for pregnancy, if the pregnancy is still unsuccessful, both men and women should go to the hospital for examination to see if they have infertility. This infertility can be divided into immunological infertility and secondary infertility, mainly referring to the failure to conceive without using any contraceptive measures. Secondary infertility mainly refers to women who have experienced infertility due to childbirth or miscarriage. What does immunological infertility refer to?

  What does immunological infertility mean

The so-called immunological infertility, literally speaking, refers to infertility caused by immunological factors. Immunological infertility can be divided into various types, such as anti sperm antibody infertility, anti egg antibody infertility, etc., and the most common is anti sperm antibody infertility.

The so-called anti sperm antibody infertility actually refers to the inflammation of the female reproductive tract, which increases local exudation and immune related cells enter the reproductive tract. At the same time, the mucosal infiltration of the reproductive tract changes, enhancing the absorption of sperm antigens. In addition, infectious factors such as bacteria and viruses may act as natural adjuvants to enhance the body's immune response to sperm antigens. As a result, the presence of anti sperm antibodies in the local reproductive tract and serum affects sperm vitality, interferes with fertilization, and prevents women from conceiving, leading to the occurrence of immunological infertility.

  Can immune infertility be treated

Men who have previously suffered from conditions such as vas deferens damage and epididymitis should be vigilant, as this may lead to infertility. When suffering from immunological infertility, it is actually very treatable, but it takes a long time to treat. During the treatment process, both men and women need to consciously use contraceptive measures. Of course, if necessary, artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, and traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods can also be chosen to assist women in achieving successful conception.

Usually, the treatment for immunological infertility is isolation therapy, which involves using contraceptive measures for 3-6 months during sexual activity to reduce further stimulation of sperm antigens on the female partner. After the antibody effect disappears, sexual intercourse during ovulation is chosen for conception. The combination of Chinese and Western medicine is also a good approach, but it should also be based on the doctor's judgment and advice. It is important not to choose some underground and dark treatment institutions just because it is difficult to explain, otherwise it may not have a therapeutic effect and may even worsen the condition.

  Examination of immune infertility

Before determining whether there is immunological infertility, it is not only necessary to analyze the situation of normal sexual intercourse without pregnancy, but also to go to the hospital for a series of tests to ultimately determine whether it is immunological infertility. In general, the examination items for immunological infertility include the following aspects:

  1. Serum immune test. If the test results show positive serum or cervical mucus anti sperm antibodies, or positive zona pellucida antibodies, it indicates the presence of immunological infertility.

  2. Sperm and cervical mucus contact test: Before ovulation, cervical mucus and semen are taken and observed under a microscope on a glass slide. It can be seen that the sperm on the contact surface with cervical mucus are trembling, inactive, or have delayed activity.

  3. Perform cervical mucus examination before ovulation and conduct the test within 2 hours of sexual intercourse with the couple. If there are less than 5 vigorously advancing sperm in cervical mucus per high-power field of view, it indicates that the penetration rate of sperm is not up to standard.

Before it is confirmed that it is immunological infertility, there is no need for men and women to worry too much. It may also be due to other aspects of the body affecting the outcome of conception. As long as professional treatment is carried out under the advice of doctors and lifestyle habits are adjusted, I believe we can also stay away from immunological infertility.
