During the process of pregnancy, women often need to go to the hospital for prenatal check ups, and there are many important examination items, such as Tang screening, NT examination, etc. Pregnant women need to pay attention to various examinations during pregnancy in order to timely understand their own and the condition of the fetus. So, what should we do if the position of the NT placenta is low?
During the NT examination, it is normal to find that the placenta is in a low position. Pregnant women do not need to worry too much or take any measures. NT examination is an important screening item during early pregnancy, usually performed at 12 weeks of gestation. At this point, the placenta has already formed, but due to the short duration of pregnancy and the relatively small uterine environment, it is often found that the placenta is in a lower position.
In the report form of the ultrasound examination of NT, placenta previa is often reported, which is a normal physiological manifestation, and almost all pregnant women will have placenta previa. However, as the gestational age increases, the volume of the pregnant woman's uterus will gradually increase. At this time, the placenta can rise with the uterine wall and move away from the cervical opening, and the situation of placenta being lowered will disappear.
If the placenta is still low and less than three centimeters away from the cervical opening during ultrasound examination after 28 weeks of pregnancy, it can be called placenta previa. At this point, the position of the placenta has already been fixed and usually does not change again. If diagnosed with placenta previa after 28 weeks of pregnancy, extra caution is needed.
