Do babies need to tie their legs

In the past, after a baby was born, it was necessary to go through a stage of leg abduction, which was said to prevent the baby from developing curly legs. However, most parents nowadays do not agree with this approach, but sometimes the elderly in the family believe that it is still better to give the baby leggings. So, do babies really need leggings?

Kidnapping and tying babies' legs was a traditional method of raising babies in the past, but it is now considered an unscientific parenting approach. During the initial neonatal stage, infants will still maintain a state of limb flexion in the mother's uterus, which will persist for a period of time after birth.

But as the baby grows older and gradually adapts, they will gradually stretch and straighten their limbs. Therefore, normal babies do not need leg binding. If leg binding is applied to a newborn baby, it will restrict the free movement of the baby's limbs, hinder blood circulation in the limbs, and thus be detrimental to growth and development. Sometimes, the binding may be tight, and it may also cause damage to the baby's local skin.

Moreover, if a baby has O-shaped or X-shaped legs, it is not a problem that can be solved simply by binding the legs. If it is indeed a congenital leg deformity, medical treatment and correction should be sought. So as parents of newborns, it is still necessary to follow scientific parenting methods and not blindly bind the baby's legs.
