Every family, children are a very important part, so when problems arise at this time, everyone will be very nervous, especially in terms of diseases such as megacolon. And sometimes children with this disease are unwilling to eat, wouldn't babies with megacolon get hungry?
Doesn't a baby with megacolon get hungry
Babies with Hirschsprung's disease are prone to hunger. Although Hirschsprung's disease is more prone to swelling, babies who have been without food for a long time still know they are hungry and need to eat. Moreover, babies who do not eat for a long time are also more prone to malnutrition.
Symptoms of megacolon
1. Delayed defecation: 90% of cases occur without or with very little defecation at birth. After the elimination of fetal stool, the symptoms will be relieved, and after a few days, constipation symptoms will recur.
2. Abdominal distension: In 80% of cases, the symptom is full abdominal distension, and in more severe cases, intestinal shapes can be seen in the abdomen.
3. Anal examination: Through digital rectal examination, it is possible to detect an empty rectal ampulla and spasm of the anal sphincter.
4. Vomiting: Approximately 60% of cases experience bloating, vomiting, frequent vomiting, and worsening constipation.
5. Complications: If a newborn baby suffers from megacolon combined with colitis, intestinal perforation is the most severe complication. The bacteria in the patient's intestine cause long-term retention of a large amount of feces in the colon and poor intestinal circulation. Also, the intestinal wall of newborns is very thin, and the pressure inside the intestinal cavity increases. The area that is prone to intestinal perforation is the part that bears the greatest pressure.
