Facial paralysis is a neurological disorder that is commonly associated with adults, but babies can also suffer from it. Parents should be alert to their baby's facial paralysis. If they can find out earlier that their baby has facial paralysis, they can receive timely treatment. So, it is necessary to know the early symptoms of facial paralysis in babies.
1、 Baby facial paralysis is different from adult facial paralysis. The special symptoms of baby facial paralysis are numbness in the tongue, inability to move one side of the face flexibly, and inability to completely close the eyes on that side. When rinsing and brushing teeth, the mouth cannot hold water.
2、 The healthy side of the cervical latissimus muscle can contract, but the cervical latissimus muscle on the side with facial nerve paralysis cannot contract. The baby cannot speak clearly and produce lip sounds. The reason is that the paralysis of the cheek muscles causes food to remain between the gums and cheek muscles, which requires parents to take out the food. When the baby suffers from facial paralysis, sucking is restricted. If suffering from bilateral peripheral facial paralysis, the baby's face will be expressionless and bilateral forehead wrinkles will disappear. The lips cannot be tightly closed, the nasolabial folds on both sides become shallow, and water leaks from the corners of the mouth, leaving food in the cheeks and making speech unclear when eating.
3、 Acute facial paralysis, also known as facial nerve paralysis, usually affects babies. This type of baby facial paralysis has a special symptom of * * reaction, which mostly occurs after being infected with a cold virus, damaging the surrounding facial nerve on one side of the face. Facial paralysis usually occurs more frequently in spring and winter, but improper use of air conditioning in summer can also trigger facial paralysis.
