Many babies have the habit of eating night milk, which is a bad habit. If the baby always eats night milk, it will make the mother feel very tired. While sleeping soundly, the baby needs to drink milk, which is very distressing for the mother. Long term night milk consumption is not good, so mothers should consciously help their babies gradually quit night milk. So, how can a 19 month old baby stop breastfeeding at night?
1. Mothers can gradually reduce the frequency of feeding their babies at night, from three times to two times and then to once, so that the baby can gradually get used to it. To prevent the baby from waking up hungry, the last feeding before going to bed at night should be delayed. Feed the baby until they are full, and then slowly soothe the baby to sleep. If your baby wakes up crying in the middle of the night, don't breastfeed him. Even if he's hungry, it's okay. Sleeping won't consume too much energy. Just give him some water to drink.
2. When the baby is six months old, the mother can add complementary foods to the baby. During the day, the mother should try to encourage the baby to eat more. An hour or two before the baby goes to bed, you can feed some Rice noodles or milk to avoid being hungry at night.
3. Milk powder should also be diluted a little more than usual, which will gradually prolong the duration of continuous sleep, and quitting night milk. Another way is to reduce daytime sleep time. Before going to bed at night, eat enough milk, urinate, and place the baby on a small bed without hugging, allowing the baby to fall asleep on their own.
