How to correct a baby's crooked feet inward1

The baby's inward tilt of the foot is also called inversion of the foot. The main method of correction is traction technique, and the specific operation is as follows:

  a. Pulling the Achilles tendon

Ask the baby to lie on their back or sit in a long position. The parent holds one hand on the ankle and places the palm of the other hand under the baby's heel. Hold the heel and let the baby's foot touch the forearm, then pull upwards horizontally with force. The palm of the hand holding the ankle should be fixed in position and not allow all the little feet to be pulled up. And the duration of each pull is about one minute, and the number of pulls depends on the condition of the baby's plantar flexor muscle contraction.

  b. Pulling on the forefoot

Parents can use one hand to secure their baby's heel and then hold the forefoot with the other hand, slowly twisting outward and upward with force for six to ten seconds.

  c. Self pulling method

Place the baby's two feet on two types of inclined boards, with their hands resting on the edge of the table or other fixed places. Keep their body upright and perform squatting movements slowly. When squatting down, be careful not to let the heels of both feet leave the sloping board.
