After the baby learns to walk, the mother will notice that the baby is becoming more and more mischievous and active! Babies are inevitably prone to bumps and bumps during activities, and they may accidentally get burned by hot water. If a child is scalded by hot water, mothers should not be flustered and unsure of what to do. Today, the editor will give you some tips for dealing with scalds caused by boiling water. Please take notes!
1. Rinse the wound with tap water
Whether it is a scald caused by boiling water or steam, the temperature of the burned skin should be lowered first to reduce further damage to the scalded area. At the same time, rinsing with water can also reduce pain. If the wound does not open, soak for about 10 minutes. If the wound has already been opened, do not soak it again to avoid infection. If the burn area is too large, soak the entire body in the bathtub. You can also use a towel soaked in water to apply it to areas that cannot be rinsed with water.
2. Don't take off your clothes urgently
When the burn is in an area covered with clothing, do not rush to remove the clothing to avoid tearing the water bubbles after the burn. You can first rinse with water to cool down, and then carefully remove the clothing.
3. Properly handle water bubbles
If there are blisters on the scalded area, whether or not to break them should be analyzed on a case by case basis. Generally, do not break them to avoid leaving scars. However, sometimes blisters that are larger or located in easily damaged joints need to be punctured with a disinfectant needle. If the blister has already broken, use a disinfectant cotton swab to dry the liquid flowing out around the blister.
4. Wrap with gauze
You can first apply some ointment to the burned area, then wrap it with clean gauze. Two days later, loosen the gauze and check the wound. If there is improvement, continue to apply some ointment before wrapping it. A typical burn can heal within two weeks, but if infection is found at the wound site, immediate medical treatment should be sought.
5. Protect the wound well
The burned area should be avoided from direct sunlight, and the wound after dressing should not come into contact with water. The burned area should also not be moved too much to prevent friction between the wound and the gauze, which can increase the healing time of the wound.
In addition, parents also need to pay attention to avoiding several wrong practices. Do not use ice cubes with too low a temperature to apply cold compress to the burn area. At the same time, do not immediately apply toothpaste to the wound after a burn occurs, as this will prevent the skin heat from spreading outward.
