Preschool defecation training

When a baby is just born, they can pull and urinate whenever they want because their physical development is not yet fully developed and they cannot control their bowel movements. However, as the baby gradually grows up and their physical development becomes more complete, at a certain age, the baby can already control bowel movements. At this time, the mother should do a good job in training the child's bowel movements. So, how should the child's bowel movements be trained?

  1. If his expression ability is not very good, don't rush to train him, otherwise it will cause him a sense of frustration, and a lot of frustration combined may make him more averse to such autonomous ability training. Therefore, you may try to strengthen his language expression ability first, and tell him after every bowel movement that he should try to tell his mother to pee and encourage him to express more, whether it is through speaking or comparison. When his expression ability improves, he may learn faster and not have too much frustration.

  2. Physiologically speaking, at least wait until the child can stand and walk. At this point, the function of the child's rectal sphincter muscle is developing relatively well, and feces can stay in the rectum for a period of time, which means he can control bowel movements by self-awareness. Secondly, children need to be able to communicate with the outside world, be able to express their feelings and understand instructions through language or voice, so that they can effectively receive the correct training. From a psychological perspective, at least after the child is weaned. Usually, after weaning, children's psychological development shifts from the oral stage to the anal stage, and they have already gained basic trust experience in themselves and the outside world.

  3. You can use the learning motivation that children enjoy imitating. For example, a mother can tell her child, 'Dad (Mom), Uncle (Uncle, Auntie) all do this. The baby has grown up and should learn from everyone to do this!' At the beginning of the training, the mother can use her experience to grasp the interval time for the child to urinate and wake him up a few minutes in advance, which will increase the success rate. As for defecation, it can be arranged during breakfast or after meals, because the food eaten can stimulate intestinal peristalsis and help with defecation.

  4. Buy him a small toilet, tell him it's for him to pee, and ask him to pee and go to the toilet. The baby gradually understands that when he urinates, he goes to the toilet. Half a month later, he starts wearing full crotch pants. Of course, he will start peeing his pants, but it will be uncomfortable if they get wet. The baby gradually understands that when he urinates, he should take off his pants. At 24 months old, my family started wearing full crotch pants and would take off their pants to pee in the toilet. The same goes for defecation. At 30 months old, my family started wearing and taking off their pants by themselves, and now they wear socks and shoes by themselves, but they may wear them backwards.

Preschool defecation training is a gradual process, parents must not rush or train their babies to defecate too early, otherwise it may cause harm to the baby. Parents should train their babies to defecate gradually, so that they can gradually adapt to the training. In fact, as long as the baby completes the normal training process, it will be completed quickly.
