In the hot summer, the baby's temperature regulation function is not particularly perfect. When the weather is hot, babies are prone to heatstroke. At this point, parents should carefully observe the baby's condition. However, some careless parents often fail to notice that their babies are suffering from heatstroke. So what are the symptoms and treatments for heatstroke in babies?
1. Signs of heatstroke: manifested as thirst, dizziness, and slightly elevated body temperature.
2. Mild heatstroke: aggravated by symptoms of heatstroke, pale or flushed complexion, general weakness, lack of concentration, dizziness, chest tightness, and gradual increase in body temperature.
3. Moderate heatstroke: It worsens on the basis of mild heatstroke, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sweating, dizziness, headache, and fatigue. The body temperature may rise above 38 degrees Celsius.
4. Severe heatstroke: excessive sweating, dilated pupils, hand and foot spasms, high fever above 40 degrees, unclear consciousness or even coma. Be careful of severe heatstroke. If the condition is severe and the patient's condition may endanger the baby's life, they need to be immediately taken to the hospital for rescue.
Once you notice that your baby has the above symptoms of heatstroke, do not panic. As long as appropriate protective measures are taken, the baby's condition will improve.
1. Immediately transfer the baby, preferably to a well ventilated and dry place such as a hallway or a cool place.
2. Let the baby lie on their back and undo their clothes. If the baby's clothes are soaked with sweat, they should change into dry clothes in a timely manner and turn on the electric fan or air conditioner as soon as possible to dissipate heat, but the wind should not directly blow onto the baby.
3. Quickly cool down the baby to 38 degrees Celsius. The specific method is to apply a cool wet towel to the baby's head or give the baby a hot bath.
4. Do not let the baby eat or drink water until they are awake. After waking up, you can drink mung bean soup, diluted salt water, etc. to relieve the summer heat.
