In life, we often accidentally hurt ourselves. Some wounds, if not treated in a timely manner, can cause damage to the skin and soft tissues, and in severe cases, even lead to amputation. Therefore, we need to learn how to clean wounds correctly. So, what is the correct method for cleaning wounds?
The wound should be washed with flowing physiological saline solution. Use a clean cloth dipped in soap to scrub the skin around the wound. Be careful not to put soap into the wound, as it can irritate the skin. Then use gauze or tweezers to clean the dirt from the wound.
If the wound is not large, the edges of the wound can be neatly aligned, and then a cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide can be used to clean the wound. The surrounding area of the wound can be disinfected with iodine and alcohol, and finally covered with a bandage. If the epidermis of the injured surface peels off, it can be cleaned and disinfected, and then a small amount of anti-inflammatory powder can be sprinkled on the wound, covered with disinfectant gauze and adhesive tape for fixation. If the wound is large, deep, or the edge of the wound is peeled off, it should be cleaned and sutured at the hospital. If the wound is caused by rust or pollutants, it is necessary to go to the hospital to inject tetanus antitoxin to prevent tetanus.
For infectious or purulent wounds, it is best to use toothed tweezers to remove the wound dressing, then use toothless tweezers to clamp iodine tincture and alcohol cotton balls to disinfect the skin around the wound, and then clean the wound with 3% hydrogen peroxide or saline solution. Be careful not to let alcohol penetrate into the wound skin to avoid pain. In addition, Vaseline gauze or other gauze or gauze strips that promote wound healing can be added as needed, and 3-4 layers of dry gauze can be added on top.
Finally, wrap and secure with adhesive tape or bandage. The direction of the adhesive tape should be perpendicular to the limbs or body to prevent it from falling off. Change dressing once every 1-4 days for the wound. Severe wound infection, excessive pus, blackened tissue, foul odor, or green dressing make it difficult to treat these types of wounds at home and should be promptly treated at the hospital.
Once our body is traumatized and wounds are formed, if not treated in a timely manner, there is a high possibility of infection. So, once our body is damaged by a wound, we should promptly adopt the correct method to deal with it and avoid infection of the wound.
