Tuina techniques for pediatric abdominal distension

  There are many reasons for bloating in children. Abdominal distension in children can be physiological or pathological. If the disease can be ruled out, traditional Chinese medicine can be used to treat abdominal distension in children. But many parents are not born doctors, and there are many professional massage techniques. In fact, there are several relatively simple techniques for treating abdominal distension in children. Tuina techniques for pediatric abdominal distension1

  Massage method one:

  1. Shunyun Inner Bagua 100 times. The Inner Bagua is located on the palm of the hand, with the palm as the center and a radius of about 2/3 of the horizontal line from the palm to the middle finger root. Use the thumb to massage the child's palm clockwise to create a smooth inner Bagua.

  2. Rubbing the door 200 times. It's just massaging the big fish area on the child's palm.

  3. Rub the meat 100 times. On the chest, on the current midline, level the fourth intercostal space, at the midpoint of the line connecting the two nipples.

  4. Divide the abdomen into yin and yang for 30 times. Parents use both hands to push the child from the middle of the abdomen, below the sternum, along the lower edge of the ribs, to both sides of the abdomen.

  5. Rub the Zhongwan acupoint 300 times. The Zhongwan acupoint is located in the upper abdomen, on the anterior midline, 4 inches above the navel.

  6. Rub the moisture hole 100 times. The water point is located in the upper abdomen, on the anterior midline, 1 inch above the navel.

  7. Rub your feet three li for 200 times. Zusanli is located on the anterior lateral side of the calf, 3 inches below the outer knee, and 1 horizontal finger away from the anterior edge of the tibia.

  Massage Method 2

  (1) The child is in a supine position, and the parents rub the Danzhong acupoint with their middle finger 50 times, then push the Danzhong acupoint directly with their palm root 50 times, and divide the abdomen into yin and yang for 30 times.

  (2) The child should lie on their back, massage the epigastric area for 5 minutes, and tap and massage the water points for 1 minute.

  (3) Rub the Zusanli acupoint for 2 minutes.

  Massage Method Three

  (1) The child lies on their back, and the parents use their thumbs to move the Eight Trigrams 100 times and push the door 200 times.

  (2) The child lies on their back, and the parents use a large fish bed; Apply clockwise acupuncture to the epigastric region for 5 minutes, then divide the abdomen into yin and yang 50 times.

  (3) Rub the Tian Shu, Pi Yu, and Zu San Li acupoints for 1 minute each.
