Children are a high-risk group for eczema, and whenever the hot summer comes, many friends are unfortunately hit. A common skin disease in infancy, eczema can occur in infants at 2-3 months old, gradually subsides after 1 year old, and can mostly self heal by 2 years old, but a few can extend to early childhood or childhood. Next, what are the types of pediatric eczema introduced in the encyclopedia?
Symptoms of pediatric eczema
1. Dry type: This type of eczema in children is mainly characterized by red papules with furry like flakes on the surface. Dry type eczema is more itchy.
2. Seborrheic type: The skin is slightly flushed, with yellow oily liquid seeping out from small papules, forming a relatively long yellow scab. It is most likely to appear on the top of the child's head, the upper edge of the eyebrows, the external auditory canal, behind the ears, and on both sides of the nose. The child looks uncomfortable with a layer of scab, and the itching sensation is not very severe.
3. Exudative type: It is more common for overweight infants and young children to have watery sores. This type of eczema is also quite itchy. After a child accidentally scratches their face, yellow fluid seeps out and slowly spreads to the limbs and body, which can easily cause skin infections.
Causes of pediatric eczema
Internally speaking, the stratum corneum of our infants and young children's skin is only one-third as thick as that of adults, very thin, and the capillary network is very rich. The endothelial cells have a high water content and chloride content, making them sensitive to various stimulating factors, so infants and young children are prone to eczema. Another internal factor is that eczema has a genetic predisposition. If a child's parents have eczema due to allergies, the child's eczema rate is much higher than other children.
There are also external factors. Allergies are quite common. If a child eats something that triggers an allergic reaction, such as milk protein, although some children are exclusively breastfed, they may also develop eczema. The shrimp, eggs, and milk that the mother eats, some of which contain ingredients that may cause allergies in newborns through milk.
