Eating, drinking, and defecating before they can speak is the most concerning thing for parents, as their baby's health can be observed from their stool. So what causes babies to have green stool?
1. Breastfeeding. The most perfect stool color for babies who are breastfed should be golden yellow and present a paste like appearance. But some breast milk, after entering the baby's intestines, undergoes a series of chemical reactions such as digestion and absorption, ultimately making the stool appear green. And this series of reasons is mainly caused by bile.
Because bile is mainly composed of biliverdin and bilirubin, breastfeeding can cause the baby's stool to become acidic, and under the action of intestinal bacteria, it is easy for the stool to turn green in the end.
2. Hunger factor. For example, in daily life, some parents may not be able to control the frequency of feeding their babies, which can easily lead to hunger. If the baby is hungry, it will accelerate intestinal peristalsis, ultimately triggering the production of green stool.
3. Formula milk powder. Some babies may not fully absorb iron during the process of drinking formula milk powder due to their own reasons, which can also cause their stool to turn green. However, this is a normal phenomenon and there is no need to worry too much. For worried mothers, they can directly replace the formula milk powder for their babies, which can effectively improve the situation.
