The defecation situation of a baby reflects its physical condition. Normally, babies have bowel movements every day, but if they don't defecate for two days, it not only worries parents but also harms the baby's health. Only by letting the baby defecate as soon as possible can the problem be solved. So, what if a baby doesn't defecate for two days a week?
1. Go to the hospital for treatment. Neonatal constipation is a common symptom that can be divided into two categories based on its causes. The first category is functional constipation, which is quite common and can be improved by adjusting diet and daily habits. The other type is constipation caused by congenital intestinal malformation, which must be corrected through surgery to be completely cured. Most newborn constipation belongs to functional constipation. If parents are really worried, they can take their baby to the hospital for examination.
2. Promote intestinal peristalsis. For babies who are artificially fed or formula fed, it is recommended to drink some plain water between two feedings to promote intestinal peristalsis. In addition, gently massage the baby's abdomen clockwise with your hands 2-3 times a day for 5-10 minutes each time, which can effectively promote intestinal peristalsis and facilitate bowel movements.
3. My mother has a light diet. If the baby is breastfed, the mother should eat light food, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, drink more water, eat less stimulating foods, and eat less fish, meat, and greasy foods. Otherwise, the baby is prone to getting overheated. Changing the mother's diet can alleviate the baby's constipation.
