  1. Pediatric drooling can be divided into two types: physiological drooling and pathological drooling. Generally, drooling in infants and young children under one year old is mostly due to physiological reasons, mainly because the oral volume is small at this time. With the increase of saliva secretion function in babies, especially during the teething period, the amount of saliva secretion will be larger. However, babies' swallowing function is not perfect, so drooling is prone to occur.

  2. If children over one and a half years old to two years old still have drooling, it may be related to pathological factors. For example, abnormal development of the nervous system, facial paralysis, and oral muscle movement disorders are some of the main causes of pediatric drooling.

  3. Some young children with adenoid hypertrophy or allergic rhinitis often open their mouths to breathe and swallow saliva, which can also cause obstacles due to these diseases, making it easy for saliva to overflow. When new parents discover that their child may have pathological reasons causing excessive drooling, it is advisable to take the baby to the relevant department of the hospital for examination as soon as possible.
