Parents of babies are most concerned about their healthy growth, but often due to their weak constitution, they may be infected by bacteria or viruses, leading to the occurrence of diseases. Some babies may experience vomiting. It is recommended that parents learn more about this and see what to do if an eight month old baby vomits?
1. After the baby stops vomiting for two hours, it is recommended to give oral rehydration solution to the baby every half an hour to an hour. You can purchase oral rehydration salts or electrolyte supplements for babies at the pharmacy and mix them according to the instructions. You can also mix it at home by adding 3 grams of salt and 18 grams of sugar to 1 liter of water.
2. Parents can also purchase 0.9% saline solution from a pharmacy and dilute it with water to obtain diluted saline solution. Because babies are more receptive to diluted salt water than breast milk or formula milk, to avoid vomiting.
3. If the baby is in the stage of pure breastfeeding, parents can use a dropper to give the baby some diluted salt water to drink, in order to avoid nipple confusion.
After drinking the mixture of fluid and milk twice without vomiting, the baby can be fed pure breast milk or formula every 3-4 hours, gradually increasing the amount until it reaches around 100 milliliters. If the baby does not vomit after 12 hours, they can resume normal feeding.
