Some babies often experience vomiting, leaving many new mothers at a loss and feeling both worried and helpless. In fact, there are many reasons for infant vomiting, and only by identifying the real cause can effective antiemetic drugs be used. So, what's going on with the baby just vomiting?
1. Feeding issues. In the first few months of life, infants may experience vomiting symptoms, which may be due to less severe feeding issues such as overfeeding, indigestion, or allergies to proteins in breast milk or formula.
2. Gastroesophageal reflux. If the baby is originally healthy but immediately vomits after eating or vomits without reason, it is likely caused by gastroesophageal reflux. If a baby's esophagus and stomach muscles are not functioning properly, causing food from the stomach to flow back into the throat and leading to gastroesophageal reflux.
3. Gastrointestinal pathogens. When infants reach several months old, pathogens are the most likely cause of vomiting. It is necessary to insist that everyone in the house or baby diapers wash their hands thoroughly after using the restroom to prevent the spread of bacteria.
4. Respiratory infections or colds caused by infections. Respiratory infections can cause vomiting, as infants may experience discomfort and blocked runny nose.
5. Excessive crying and constant coughing. Long term continuous crying or coughing can also cause nausea and vomiting.
6. Accidentally ingesting toxic substances. Babies may also vomit due to ingestion of certain medications, toxic plants, herbs, or chemicals.
7. Infection or serious illness. Occasional vomiting may indicate respiratory, urinary, or ear infections in infants. In rare cases, vomiting can even indicate pneumonia, meningitis, or Rayleigh syndrome. If a baby develops serious illness or other symptoms, vomiting may be a sign of serious illness.
Mothers should also pay attention to whether there is a correlation between the shape, odor, and diet of the baby's vomit, their mental state, appetite, urine, and accompanying symptoms of vomiting. They should inform the doctor in a timely manner to help with diagnosis and treatment.
