Normal stool is formed. If there is a paste like consistency in the stool, it may be caused by indigestion. By adjusting the mix in a timely manner and reducing the intake of a certain type of food, abnormal stool can be corrected. But if the abnormal stool is not a general digestive disorder and is accompanied by systemic symptoms, it should be immediately taken to the hospital for further examination to avoid delay.

Baby feces from different feeding methods

1、 Breastfeeded infant feces: For infants who are breastfed without complementary foods, the feces are yellow or golden in color, with a uniform consistency resembling ointment or particles, occasionally thin and slightly green in color, with an acidic reaction and a sour taste but no odor. Defeat 2-4 times a day. If there are only 1-2 bowel movements per day and suddenly increase to 5-6 bowel movements, it should be considered whether there is a disease. If a child has frequent bowel movements but their general condition is good and their weight continues to increase without losing weight, they cannot be considered sick. After adding complementary foods, the frequency of bowel movements in infants can be reduced. The frequency of bowel movements in children over 1 year old has been reduced to once a day.

2、 Artificially fed feces: Infants fed with cow's milk have feces that are pale yellow or earthy gray in color, hard in texture, and exhibit neutral or alkaline reactions. Due to the high protein content in milk, there is a noticeable odor after protein breakdown. Stool 1-2 times a day. If the sugar content in milk is increased, the frequency of bowel movements will increase and the stool will be soft.

3、 Mixed feeding of infant feces: Whether fed with human milk or cow's milk, if starchy foods are added at the same time, the amount of feces increases, the hardness is slightly reduced compared to pure milk feeding, it appears dark brown, and the odor increases. If vegetables, fruits, and other complementary foods are added, the stool will be similar to that of an adult. When adding vegetable puree for the first time, a small amount of green vegetable puree is often excreted in the stool. Some parents often think it is indigestion and stop adding vegetable puree. In fact, this phenomenon is a common occurrence in healthy infants when changing their food. If there is no diarrhea, there is no need to stop adding complementary foods. After a few days, the gastrointestinal tract will become accustomed to it and this condition will disappear.

If a two-year-old baby's stool is mushy, it is necessary to check if the baby has indigestion. It is best to take the baby to the hospital for examination in order to diagnose the cause and receive proper treatment. New mothers are reminded that their baby's stool can indeed reflect their physical health condition, so it is important to observe their baby's stool regularly.
