Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt Reveals How She Combats Mom Burnout

The author, mom of two and partner to Chris Pratt has a message for parents who feel overwhelmed.

As a parent of two toddlers with a career and plenty of chaos to keep up with Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt understands how just how quickly tasks can pile up and exhaustion and burnout can sneak in. Her key to keeping it together—taking the idea of balancing it all perfectly off the table.

“Everything in my life has to have the exact equal amount of time I have to give. My self time, my children time, my career time, my husband time, my family, my friends time. So if you have that level of pressure, it’s just, it’s never ending and that’s exhausting and it’s just not realistic,” the Good Night, Sister author shared on a recent episode of Gut Feelings with Lo Bosworth . "So taking that off the table is number one most important thing.”

Schwarzenegger Pratt notes that it’s also important to have compassion for yourself throughout. “I think just being gentle with yourself is probably the best piece of advice that I can give anybody feeling burnout, especially in the mom space," she noted.

"You have kids that are needing your love and support and attention all the time, and a partner as well, and different parts of your life. You’re going to be late. You’re going to have things not go your way. Your kids are going to get sick. You’re going to have to go to appointments.”
