The holidays are associated with togetherness, but many times that’s not always possible for families. Whether it’s due to work, divorce or any other reason, it’s hard to explain the situation to kids. Virginia mom Stephanie Lynn came up with the perfect solution to allow her family to celebrate Christmas early—with proof of Santa’s permission, of course.
Lynn, whose husband is in the military, is used to not being able to celebrate every holiday with her partner. But that doesn’t make things any easier for their kids. This Christmas, her husband will be working, so—with Santa’s approval—they’ll be celebrating on Dec. 24 instead. To seal the deal, the mama crafted up an authentic-looking letter from the North Pole.
“I’ve only sent this message to a special group of kids around the world—the kids of military members and first responders. I know sometimes your mom or dad can’t be home on Christmas day because they’re working, keeping us safe and healthy,” the letter reads. “Christmas is about family, and even though your mom or dad will be working hard on the 25th, I want your whole family to have a special Christmas morning together.”
The note then advises the family of the “special delivery” they’ve been scheduled for in place of Christmas day.
The letter has struck a chord with tons of families nationwide, many who won’t be with their kids due to various different reasons. In response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback she received, Lynn went the extra mile to craft up personalized letters for kids of medical professionals , pilots and flight attendants and divorced parents , as well as a general letter . She hopes it will help all those who find themselves in a similar predicament as her family this year.
“Please do share far and wide, and print them for your kids and those you know would benefit,” she says.
“I’ve only sent this message to a special group of kids around the world—kids who celebrate Christmas in more than one home,” reads the letter for divorced families. “Christmas is about family, and the magic of the season follows you wherever you go! This year, as you enjoy Christmas with each of your parents, you’ll have a special visit from me in both of their houses!”
