Mom Sends Important Message to Celebrate ‘Powerful Females’

This mother’s empowering message to every female is one we should all live by.

Desiree Fortin has an important message for moms, and really all women alike: We are powerful.

It’s a message you can’t argue with, but one we often forget or simply downplay. Which is why the mom of four took to Instagram sharing a self-love post where she shows off her postpartum belly.

Flaunting a T-shirt that reads “Powerful female,” she used the opportunity to send a message to the amazing female race, spanning moms-to-be, new moms, bereaving moms, moms who are trying to conceive, and even those young girls who may one day be moms.

Fortin opens her message saying, “To the mama who carried a baby, you’re a powerful female. Your body may have changed , but it is covered in beauty.”

The open letter also sends an endearing message to new moms who may be struggling as they navigate through postpartum life . “The journey is hard,” she admits. “But you’re such a great mom! You’re a powerful female.”

The self-love reminder is also one for working moms and stay-at-home moms, both groups which Fortin classifies as “powerful females.” “To the working mom, thanks for providing for your family,” she says. “To the stay at home mom, I see you!"

As the post continues, Fortin extends her message to reach those hopeful ladies who want nothing more than to be called “mom.” “To the woman who doesn’t have stripes like mine, but wishes she did, whatever your story is now, whatever struggle you are facing, you are strong. You are brave,” she says.

The post hit home with many, who left comments to praise the mother for her powerful words.

“Yes! Beautiful photo and beautiful words. I am also a mom to multiples and my body has changed immensely. I am a strong athlete and a soft mother all at the same time. I had to learn both can be true,” says a fellow mom.

One follower found comfort in the post, sharing, “Exactly what I needed to hear today to soothe my soul.”

“I love this from the bottom of my heart,” another comment reads.

And, for her final words, Fortin signs off saying, “to all women, you are a powerful female.”
