Five days after giving birth to her baby, Mel Bremner got the fright of her life when her c-section scar burst open, causing her intestines to come out of the wound. The mom recently reflected on this scary scenario to ChannelMum.com , sharing a very graphic image with readers.
The scary moment all unfolded when the Scotland mom bent down to grab shampoo. Luckily, her partner has military background, so when she called for him to come, he took care of her as best as he could before paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the surgeon who performed the c-section said he either didn’t tie the knot tight enough or he cut the tail of the thread too short, Bremner tells Channel Mum.
The medical term for what happened to the woman is called wound dehiscence, which is a very serious post-operative condition where a wound ruptures along a surgical incision.
Despite the horrific first experience the mom had with her c-section, she had two more c-sections with her second and third children which went much more according to plan.
While all will likely agree that Bremner is a warrior mama, if you ask her, she says she’s “far from brave.”
“Thank you to everyone for all the lovely comments on here regarding my story! I am far from brave, there are women who go through much worse than I did,” she comments on a Channel Mum Facebook post . “I hope by sharing this I at least helped one person either deal with something like this, or avoid something like this! I didn’t do it to frighten anyone or put anyone off.”
As terrifying as the story is, the mom luckily faced a full recovery and even looks back and laughs at her experience.
“I am completely healed now—seven years on and two more sections later and thankfully can see the funny side to it all.”
