After the amniotic fluid breaks, it is still possible to have a vaginal delivery, but the following conditions must be met in order to have a vaginal delivery:

  1. After the amniotic fluid breaks, a color ultrasound examination should be performed. If the examination results show that the amount of amniotic fluid is sufficient and the size of the fetus matches the pelvis, it can be delivered through the vagina. If the ultrasound results show low amniotic fluid volume or abnormal conditions such as umbilical cord wrapping around the neck twice, vaginal delivery cannot be performed. In addition, if the pelvic measurement is abnormal, vaginal delivery cannot be performed.

  2. If amniotic fluid ruptures, fetal heart monitoring is necessary. If the results show that the fetus is not experiencing hypoxia, vaginal delivery can be performed. If fetal hypoxia or fetal size is found during fetal heart rate monitoring, vaginal delivery cannot be performed.

If premature rupture of membranes occurs, anti infective treatment can be performed. If there are still no contractions after 22 hours, medication can be used to induce contractions, followed by vaginal delivery. When the amniotic fluid breaks, pregnant women should ask their families to call an ambulance and lie down in a timely manner, waiting for the ambulance to take them to the hospital. In addition, they should pay attention to maintaining cold compress, avoiding excessive panic and anxiety, and approach childbirth with a calm attitude.
